Although the windy season is over, Anya is surprised by the gusts of wind and is keen to find the cause of this, building a paper bridge to cross into the next village. There’s an exquisite quality to the way art is used to create core memories which engage and enchant readers. Clever composition and placement on the page really draw readers in and the use of blue and white feels reminiscent of traditional porcelain in this distinctive book.

Beautiful photography/illustrations. The illustrations added to the story in a very delightful way, which helped show the story in a fun and interesting way.

Truly a stunning piece of art. The blend between delicate paper crafts and rugged cardboard joinery, combined with the expertly drawn characters, creates an immersive and unique experience worth rereading.

I love the message this book sends! I like how the characters and building were created, I love how the issue was resolved and I love the friendship that was created! I really love the illustrations and how realistic they seem. In my opinion this book should be read to every kid in primary schools to allow them to understand the idea of peace and friendship. This was a very fantastic book!

I really liked the detail and how the pictures looked like it was coming out the page and was very realistic and I loved how all the people were in an outfit similar to a kimono.

This was the book that I voted for, as I think that it was very well designed. The author made each page of the story from paper or cardboard, before illuminating it with something that looked similar to candlelight, and photographing the scene. We then thought that they drew on the characters to help them to stand out. It must have taken a long time, and the story itself is heartwarming and lovely. Overall, a very good book, and my favourite from the ones I read.

I honestly think it was supposed to symbolize something like segregation, with how the paper people and forest/wood people didn't know about each other and had no way to connect with each other until one of the paper people decided to ask everyone to help make a bridge to go see the other forest/wood people.

As a school we voted for this second out of all the books. Y2 said- It has so much detail! Lovely bright colours and we love the birds! Y3 thought it was full of life, they loved the 3D aspect and thought the artwork was lively. Y4 love that the pictures have been crafted and the colours are really expressive. They found that sometimes it was hard to tell what was happening as there was so much going on. Y5- Real craft and talent have gone in to the different text and textures used to layer the images. Year 6 loved the Paper Bridge as the illustrations were 2D but the representations of 3D collages and it felt like you were in the picture.

I would give this book a 5/5 for illustration because I like how the pictures were created and the time put into making all the pictures and I like how the shadows created this sense of realism and that is why I rate this book so high.

Are you looking for a book with depth, character and style? Look no further. This book features a unique art style that is done perfectly without a single flaw at all. I think that The Paper Bridge is a great book with character and creativity. It is impossible to think that this was the writer’s first time using that art style because it looked like the work of a professional who had been doing it for years! I loved the illustrations so much. They were so unique and beautiful. The blue and white colour scheme was perfect and connected to the story impeccably. The illustrations alone made me laugh, cry, smile and feel everything the main character was feeling. My favourite illustration was the one where they were inside the Forestlee house because there were so many details. To make that out of cardboard would take me months and the writer managed to make the whole book without giving up. That takes dedication and commitment that is very hard to do. In conclusion, this book has character and is not only an excellent book but a stunning experience. It takes forever to find a book where the illustrations are as good as the story. That means something because the looks of the book are AMAZING! It would be very hard to match the illustrations to the story but this artist does it in style. She has been such a risk taker with this book and that is something alone that should be celebrated. But the quality of each bit of paper is something that cannot be exaggerated enough. It is beautiful, perfect, has a perfect colour scheme and a flawless story. If I was this artist I would have given up after one person. So I really want to thank her for this dedication to make children’s frowns turn upside down. But this book is not only for children this book is something that grown ups can treasure. It is an awesome book that should be treasured if you have a copy.

I think that the paper bridge was a really amazing book to read. My favourite part was when she was went to visit the Elephant brothers to stop the wind from destroying everything in Paperlee. I'm really shocked that this was the first time the author had done kirigami because the kirigami work was amazing. I will definitely recommend this book to read.

Trisha

Southbank Shadowers

I am impressed how the illustrater did kirigami so amazingly even though she said it was her first time doing that style of art. I love how she was such a risktaker trying this art style.

Yuval

I think that The Paper Bridge is an amazing book. My favourite part is the illustrations especially on the page inside the Forestlee house. I also think all the scenes are beautiful and I love the dedication and attention. @-@

Noor

This book was really good but it almost contradicts itself as paperlee is made from forestlee and for some reason forestlee has elephant brothers. The front cover and the fact it is two layers adds a lot of depth to the page

This book was a joy to read, and the use of kirigami and the use of Paperlee and Forestlee was a very witty approach to the overall story. I also liked the variety of shapes and sizes of pictures in the book. The ending was also very satisfying to read- would recommend to all ages.

This book is about a big paper bridge that can cross the chasm between Anya's village and the neighbouring mountain. I really like the idea of The Paper Bridge and that Anya must discover what was causing the great gust of wind threatening her home.

This was a solid 10/10 from the children. The children loved the inclusion of the kirigami and the different uses of light and colours to reflect the different villages in the book. The children liked how the two teams came together at the end for a common good and this is reflected in the bridge by the end of the book.

The book was about a young girl named Anya that she was good at folding and cutting and she had made paper bridge with her villagers and she made a friend called Hazel that was from forestlee Anya came from paperlee

We thought The Paper Bridge was a really sweet story that teaches us that even though we are different, we can still get along. The illustration of the house was really decorative. We liked the creative style. We thought it was a little curious that Anya's hair was blue! It has inspired us to have a go at kirigami.

The Worms

The Paper bridge (review by Saatvik Goeta) The phenomenal story is about a young girl who is gifted with the skill of extraordinary cutting and folding. It all started when neighbouring country's windmill started blowing towards them. Since the villagers weren't used to wind they started getting pretty blown around. Then a little girl called Anya came up with the idea to make a paper bridge that the crane could tie to the other side. After this feat Anya changed the unexpected wind forever. It was the end of the wind but the start of a promising friendship between two talented countries one in paper and one in cardboard. Together they made the bridge stronger and healthier and thicker. For we all know that friendship is the strongest material!

Anya wanted her Village to be safe. We liked when Anya met a little girl about her age. We were surprised about how the story ended up well. The colour’s were pastel and the objects looked very flat. They look like paper figures. We enjoyed the story because it is interesting and the images are very cool.

The book was mostly about Anya planning to go to Forestlee to go and talk to the elephants brothers. I loved the illustrations especially the picture of the elephant brothers because every thing looked slightly 3D which is unusual. The book made me feel encouraged to restarting origami which I abandoned when I was young. 9 out of 10 Highly recommended to someone like me, who is Japanese and who loves paper and origami.

I think that this book is kinda interesting but to be fair I am a bit older than the children this book is for but I think it could use a bit more of a back story.
