I loved Lord of the flies the best- book for pleasure or meaning and I think the meaning is that kids without adults = death and chaos, no rules, regulations and boundaries.

I found this very boring. This one is about a kid with
anxiety issues, and everything goes wrong with him on the
day of his school photo and he is really worried about looking
bad on it. I could not be bothered reading the whole thing and
halfway through skipped to the end. I do not recommend this
book.

I found this book extremely boring. It is about a girl who
experiences racism when moving to a new home. She then
meets a pit pony (a pony who lives in a mine) and becomes
friends with it. The majority of the story is spent on her going
to visit the pony, and promising to save it. I stopped halfway
through the book and skipped to the end to see what
happened. Basically, she rescues the pony, but then they have
to go back to save some trapped miners, but then they set the
pony free after that because it saved the miners. And they all
lived happily ever after.

Enjoyed this book tremendously. I feel like it strips down human nature to the bare minimum and outputs it with no restraints. I would highly recommend it but if you are squeamish / easily get scared STAY AWAY.

Good but I think it would be even better for someone who lived during that time to read as I didn't understand all of the slang language the author uses that must have been common at the time.

The Playdate
Such a deep book with a whole other level.
Looks like a regular playdate but really the girls mother is a cleanere for the boys mother. It shows the difference between social classes and we wonder if the mother (cleaner) will be able to keep her job once they find out her childhas taken a toy.

Shrapnel boys is set just before World War 2 to the middle of the blitz. takes place in London while England is surrounded by Germany. Main character Ronnie is best friends with his brother Micky and his friends Lugs.
There is a man called Johnny who Micky suspects that is a criminal. And Johnny has wormed his way into Ronnie's family and is doing someting secertive with Micky and Lugs and Ronnie are trying to uncover Johnny's secret.
It is a good book, I do recommend it for 9-15 yr olds. I learnt about what London was like during the blitz

Its not for squeamish people. There is blood, violence, death and murder. Some parts are extremely graphic, too graphic even.
It shows people reverting back to primitive nature of survival. It's a good book but really dark.

Handles more adult themes like deah and the after life really well. It sends a good message about even if your angry with family, you still love them. The journey to the 'The Deer Mother' was fun but the ending of actually finding her home was rushed.

Popcorn is an amazing book. It is very emotional and funny at the same time. At times, it is also very relatable. The book "Wonder" is a very similar book just even better.
