Patrons

The Carnegies — the UK’s leading awards for children’s and young adult books — have launched a new patronage scheme to help secure the future of these much-loved literary honours.

The scheme offers individuals and organisations the chance to support the Carnegies in championing the transformative power of books and storytelling for young readers. By becoming a patron, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the Carnegies continue to celebrate and promote excellence in children’s literature, honouring authors and illustrators who inspire imaginations and spark a lifelong love of reading.

We are delighted to recognise Yoto, the award-winning children’s audio platform and former headline sponsor of the Carnegies from 2022 to 2024, as the Founding Patron of the scheme. Yoto’s commitment to a three-year patronage reflects their dedication to the future of the awards and their belief in the importance of storytelling for young readers.

Join Us
We warmly invite other organisations and individuals who share the Carnegies’ values to consider becoming patrons. Your support will help us:

  • Inspire tens of thousands of young people annually through the Awards and Shadowing scheme.
  • Celebrate outstanding authors and illustrators who create life-changing reading experiences.
  • Champion the importance of storytelling in building empathy, imagination, and understanding.
  • Welcome hundreds of children and young people to attend the Carnegies ceremony for free.
  • Keep the national Shadowing scheme free to take part in for schools, libraries, and youth groups.
  • Support our network of volunteer judges from across the UK.

As a patron, you could receive behind-the-scenes access to the Carnegies, including invitations to awards ceremony, early access to announcements, opportunities to engage with young readers and educators, and recognition on our website and materials as a valued supporter of children’s literature.

For more information on becoming a patron and supporting the Carnegies’ vital work, please contact our Awards Manager.

Together, we can ensure that the Carnegies continue to inspire and empower the next generation through books and reading.
