Homebody
The book “Home Body” is about finding the true version of yourself. It compares it as a journey to find your own pronouns, looks, styles and your own body. It also says “they say your body is a temple but mine more feels like a rental” I feel like this quote applies to a lot of people who are trying to find their sexuality. Overall, this book was quite good and a quick read for me (about 30 minutes). I would recommend this book, 8/10.

Play – Luke Palmer
The book is a little bit slow, and I struggled to read it, but it did have nice fleshed-out characters that I missed after reading. Unfortunately, the characters were one of the only good things about the book that I picked out as it was slightly boring. More easily persuaded readers could easily get the wrong ideas from this book as the more negative effects of one of the main boy’s actions are only portrayed as a bad decision in the last 10 pages.

Flying High
Flying High by Cu Wenxuan and Yu Rong
‘Flying High’ is an illustrated book about a child who feels left out because of their height and identity.
What is so special about the illustrations?
The illustrations in this book are quite big and colourful, and I think they represent what the narrator is thinking or what they see through their eyes in that moment, also while describing it.
What I think is good about it
How the narrator expresses their thoughts and feelings through not only words, but also through the use of words. I feel like it gives me a description of it to help me imagine what it would be like to be in the narrator’s shoes.
What I think could be better
How the narrator uses simple sentences and could have more of a description of how it feels to be left out like they are in the storyline.

Home Body
By: Theo Parish
Overall review:
Home Body is a Great book which is great for many ages and for those who are part of the LGBT+ community or those transitioning, as it’s very inspiring and shows that there are struggles but to reach the good you must first go through the bad. The design is very unique and fascinating as they chose to specifically use the colours pink and blue which is fitting for a book about the journey of transitioning, and it has a fun comic like design to it making it even more enjoyable to read.
Notes:
There are uses/ mention of: dead naming, homophobia, transphobia and gender dysphoria. This has been mentioned as, these topics can be triggering to some, and I do feel that there should be a little

His mum is a drunk who spends all of her money on bingo
That leaves him to look after his younger brothers
He lost his only friend to the person who bullies him

The Things We Leave Behind
The Things We Leave Behind – Clare Furniss
It is an intriguing book that is very easy to get lost in as it doesn’t have proper chapters. It is told through flashbacks that conveys emotions that are very relatable. Clare Furniss’ writing is very understanding and expresses emotions in a way that would never offend anyone. The use of flashbacks is effective but one of the only flaws in the book is that there is no scale of time for the flashbacks. The ending is absolutely awesome, and I am sad that I can’t read it for the first time again.
