All That It Ever Meant
I really enjoyed how the author shows how teenagers deal with their anger. I also liked how she was able to discuss ethnicity within the book.

The Things We Leave Behind
This book made me realise how much being separated from family hurts. The characters were really likeable and it was really sad when they left. This book also shows how dangerous our society can be and how it can impact our lives completely and it teaches us the importance of caring for your family whilst they’re still here. This book will make you sad but is an amazing read.

All That It Ever Meant
Firstly, if you are affected by death, abortion and sexual themes, drugs and child death, this is definitely not the book for you. This book covers many themes that could affect a young person in 2025, so I think it is a very inspiring story. The author really describes the feeling of grief for Mati extremely vividly, so that the reader experiences what she is going through too. By telling the story in first person, Musariri tells Mati's story through a diary-type dialogue, which feels as though the main character is speaking directly to you.
Overall, it is an extremely good book that I would read again. Would definately recommend!!!
