The Playdate
I liked the book. It was fun to read, two kids went out on a playdate. I think it would be good for younger children to read. It shows lots of messages for younger children to understand, a moral to the story which can be used to help children understand.

Wiggling Words
I think that this is good for people with dyslexia, it can help them understand their own struggle and help others too as well. If you struggle with dyslexia, the words are quite big as well so that can help to read. I think this book is a good book overall as it could help them to start with reading and start their own reading journey. The illustrations were very nice becasue the letters are really creative - it really helped to understand the message of the story.

Jack

Freedom Braids
It shows how people can come together and work as a team, to gain their freedom. How that being creative is a skill that can lead to survival, like the braiding that were secretly maps to their escape. It also shows that racism has no place in society and that we should rise against this in our own lives. I liked how there was a message of not giving up was throughout the book as well.

Tessa

The Playdate
I thought the illustrations were incredibly good, and the story it tells how they are best friends but she ends up taking something from the boy was a good way to show parents showing empathy and understanding to their child. In one of the scenes I liked that the background was detailed as well as the hidden details that I noticed.

Leila

Freedom Braids
I think that this book was quite good as it shows what happens in history very well. The braids shown their culture and how it helped them. I think this book would help many people understand the history of the Black community and what their braids mean to them. I learnt a lot from the book that I wouldn't study in my History lessons at school so that was incredibly interesting.

Jack

Wiggling Words
I think that the book is a good representation of people who struggle reading because it shows that even when you have dyslexia you can make your own ways of reading. The illustrations are very clever - how it makes different animals and shapes out of letters of the words. I liked that at the end of the book that she wrote a letter to raise awareness of dyslexia and that even becasue of her own dyslexia, she makes her own way of reading.

Eva

Wiggling Words
I think the book is definitely good for people who struggle with dyslexia, especially if they are young as it explains dyslexia in an easy way to understand. It can show what dyslexia is like for those who have it. I think that it is well made. I really liked that the author had a section at the back of the book where she explained what dyslexia was like for her, it helped me understand the reading difficulty more. I think it was explained very well.

Bea

The Playdate
I think that the book is good becasue it shows different perspectives of different people's lives and experiences. It shows how kids think differently to adults as they play servants and kings the opposite way around to how their life actually is. Their mums are opposite to what they are playing. It shows that even though people might be different due to money, but really everyone is actually the same and shouldn't treat people differently.

Tessa

Wiggling Words
It was a quick read as there weren't too many words involved. It made me realise how many things you can make out of letters. I thought it was pretty good! The design wasn't as detailed as I normally would read, but it was quite fun to read. I think the meaning was that anyone can imagine and make whatever they want out of anything. I thought the dyslexia theme was good as I haven't seen this topic often in books.

Oscar

Wiggling Words
It was a good book - the pictures looked cool. I liked the way the letters made the pictures and that the pictures linked with the words quite well. My favourite pages were when the animals were made out of letters.

Tom

Wiggling Words
It is a very good book. It is good for people with dyslexia as it has more pictures than words. I like that the pictures linked up with the letters that they were writing about. The Illustrations were really cool - I liked the page where they made a castle out of letters!

Annabella

Freedom Braids
A book about a girl who basically finds freedom through braiding. They escape and go back to the village, but keep their spirits up by braiding each others hair. It is a lot about African enslavement and being taken away from their families. I think it also touches on the idea of culture and the traditions that have been passed down through generations. Overall, I think this book is very inspirational and quite exciting to read, I think that the pictures really bring the story to life. I like that there is a strong message of being together and overcoming adversity.

Eva

Wiggling Words
I think it is a really good book. It is about a kid who is struggling to read the words on the page and he just goes through it bit by bit. UIsing his imagination to create his own world through the words. It's basically based on a kid who is trying to read a book, but he can't and gets frustated, then finds his own way to read the book. I think it is to highlight that even if your brain is different, you can still do things that other people can but in your own way. The illustrations are really good - they were pictures made of words and letters which was very well crafted. Overall, I really liked the book!

Eva

Wiggling Words
I liked that the book talked about someone's struggle with dyslexia and how they struggle with reading. I liked the illustration of the words bounce along the page and in lots of different places. I also liked the bit at the end and what actually happened to her when she was reading. I really like how the red colours of the illustrations pop off the page. I think the illustrations link in really well with the story and really represents what is going on when it comes to dyslexia and reading. 4/5 - I liked the book

The Playdate
I feel like the book was quite sad, the girls didn't actually realise that it wasn't actually a playdate but the mum was going to clean the house. I liked the whole book in general, but I did like how the mum tried to make it fun for her child whislt that she is on a job. It really showed how tricky some things are for single mums and how they have to work so hard. And how lonely it might be for the child. I liked how it showed how the child is aware in their own way that they know about the finance situation with their mum and tries to make her not upset by it. 4/5 for message behind the book - I think that younger children might need a little bit more in terms of explaining what is going on really, but it is an important story.

Holly

The Endless Sea
The book for me showed that the girl in it gets left out and they use lots of colour but when she moves away it is lots of dark colours and makes it very sad and the face expressions are very telling of the emotions that they have. They use lots of different art styles and I really like the different layouts of the book. I like how sometimes there is not as much details in the image, so it is much easier to understand what is happening around the words. I rate this 4/5 because I enjoyed it and would read it again (even though I don't read much, I did like this one).

The Playdate
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was such a sweet story! It had a really nice storyline to it. It was very enjoyable and relaxing to read. The illustrations were very detailed and I loved the watercolour artwork - it was really cool! It was so cute, I loved the book. The message of the book did help me learn about other people's experiences
