The Final Year
I wasn’t too interested in reading this at first, but I ended up gripped from the first page. Nate’s life is far from perfect, but he try’s to do the best he can, and watching him overcome his challenges as he navigates year six, friendship issues and problems with his brother is inspiring. An all-around great read.

Treacle Town
I think Treacle Town was the best book in the shortlist this year. Following the tale of Con after the death of his best mate, Biscuit, he decides to leave his current life behind and seek better things. The book is an agonising tale, cover to cover, and the poetry is amazing.

Glasgow Boys
Glasgow Boys was a sad novel following Banjo and Finaly as they make their way through life. It’s gripping to see them think of each other and slowly uncover their pasts as they find love.

Homebody
I really loved this book it’s so cute and wholesome but what I really loved is how it said if something didn’t feel right change it, fix it and don’t let others tell you what you can and can’t be. It also expresses that you should be yourself and love yourself instead of keeping that part of you hidden.

Play
I really liked play because fist page caught my attention I usually don’t read unless I’m on a long drive but with play any chance I got the book would be in my hand open. It was a really good book.

Glasgow Boys
I really loved the style of writing that was used for Glasgow boys and I loved how you can tell between both Banjo and Finlay. It was really intriguing to find out what happened between Banjo and Alena but also Finlay and Akash. I like how you could also tell that Banjo was quite loud and not so shy but when you look at Finlay he is quite shy and quiet which is a nice change of pace between the two characters.

All That It Ever Meant
I loved this book. It follows a girl’s train of thought as she and her family go on a road trip after the funeral of her mother. At first, I found it boring, but I loved the ending and the plot twists.

Treacle Town
This was a very intriguing book. It was shocking on the first page and I put it down thinking I wouldn’t like it but I decided to go out my comfort zone and I found a new genre I love and a new book I will read again and recommend.

Glasgow Boys
This book provides a down-to-earth look at the heartbreaking but then rewardingly warming lives of realistic people who suffer from problems that do exist in our own world. All in all, providing a breath of vitalising air from the typical fantasy and other worldly adventure books I find myself typically picking up.

Little Bang
Little Bang is an amazing book I absolutely love it I’d recommend this book to other children or pupils around the school I’m quite thankful for the author that published this book if I had to say anything to them I would say make more books like this but after all it’s a really good book lots of drama speaks about life mistakes and how to make them sorta better it’s just a really good book

The Things We Leave Behind
A great book and a must-read out of the selection. Reminds me of The Hunger Games with both the distopian type setting and the bond of two sisters. I was invested from the start and felt a connection towards both of the sisters. One of my personal favourites out of the collection.

Little Bang
I really loved the book and the split POV between Mel and Sid. I also enjoyed how it touched on the issue of teen pregnancy and a women's opinion on abortion and the rights over her own body. Overall, a great book and one of the best I read out of the selection.

Glasgow Boys
I thought Glasgow boys was a really uplifting and interesting book. I enjoyed how the two boys each had chapters in their point of view and I felt like you could really understand the characters well.
