The Things We Leave Behind
Very good and heartfelt but there was no real twist in the story or if it was meant to be you could tell it from a mile away.

The Final Year
it was very good! the poems were very weird/different at first since I never read poetry but i got tuned into it quickly and just read it as a story. The book was very interesting and I was hooked from the first page.

All That It Ever Meant
has some good characters and an amazing plot twist which I never saw coming but the actual plot was dull and meaningless and there was no real point to the book

Little Bang
I really liked this book and the different characters - especially Sid's mum as she is so honest and a strong source of comfort and advice for Mel. It tackled some really difficult topics and the different points of view of Mel and Sid showed the different sides of the story really clearly.

The Things We Leave Behind
I really enjoyed this book, although (or maybe because) it's utterly terrifying in places. The ending was sad but satisfying, and I almost guessed part of it, but didn't manage to, which I'm happy about.

Little Bang
⭐⭐⭐ On the edge of my seat to see how it would end. Dramatic and I LOVE THAT. The beginning was a bit slow but it was worth it for the drama

The Things We Leave Behind
It starts off okay and is quite a good read, but it didn't have me hooked. Until the final twist at the end, which was really depressing but made the book amazing. It also explained some confusion I had earlier in the book that I had put down to a mistake. Overall, it was really good and very sad.

The Final Year
I enjoyed The Final Year although it was aimed at a slightly younger audience than I am used to reading. I thought the verse form worked well for the character and plot. Nate was a great character who it was enjoyable to see grow throughout the novel and who I felt was a good role model - his resilience and ability to see the good in difficult situations, with the help of his teacher, was very inspiring.

Mrs Bean

Treacle Town
This book is depressing. I know that is what is supposed to be, but the opening scene is genuinely heart wrenching. I really enjoyed the slam poetry aspect, but at times I struggled to see where the plot was going or how the conflicts and relationships would resolve. Overall, once you can abstract from the swearing and sometimes not understandable dialect, it is a fascinating novel that sheds a light on the problems faced by so many.
